A meta-analysis of 2020 about plugging of the semicircular canal reported a complete resolution of VPPB : A Part from The Book Chapter : “Underwater” Technique: Auditory Vestibular and Facial Nerve Preservation

VPPB

The function of the labyrinth is based on the homeostasis of the labyrinthine fluids (perilymph and endolymph).

Money and Scott, 1962, elaborated a technique in cats plugging, completing individual semicircular canals, blocking its receptivity without influencing the functions of the other vestibular receptors.

1990, Parnes and McClure first performed this technique to treat benign parossistical positional vertigo of the posterior semicircular canal. The two reported cases showed a resolution of VPPB with the preservation of hearing function.

A meta-analysis of 2020 about plugging of the semicircular canal reported a complete resolution of VPPB, preserving auditory function in 99% of patients and vestibular one in 87% of cases.
