Uganda have Mainly Focused On the Big Game Like Lions, Buffalos, Uganda Kobs etc and Higher Plants : A Part from The Book : Advances in Wildlife and Environment Management in Uganda

wildlife resources

Conservation status reports in Uganda have mainly focused on the big game like lions, Buffalos, Uganda kobs etc and higher plants. However, there could be other populations of small animals such as small mammals, insects, earthworms etc and small plants that are not studied and hence their population and health status are not known.  Additionally, for the trends of the populations that have been studied, the underlying factors that account for the population numbers are not known. Guesses often made in policy documents and in public conservation forums allude to generalized factors such as habitat loss, climate change, poaching and illegal trade, illegal access to protected areas by local communities and invasive species as factors responsible for the poor state of wildlife resources. Based on un-researched opinions, wildlife conservation policies and interventions are often made.
